COLIN BEATTIE MSP

Colin Beattie has been the MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh since 2011. Colin was first elected in 2011 and won the election again in 2021. Prior to this role, Colin was a councillor and group leader of the SNP on Midlothian Council.

Before his career in politics, Colin worked as an international banker for 23 years across the Middle East and Asia. He then decided after a period of working in London that he would return to living in Scotland with his wife, Lisa. Though originally from Forfar, Colin has now made Dalkeith his home and works with local residents and businesses to ensure that their needs and wants are heard.

Colin was delighted when BBYTA got in touch with him in 2019 to ask that he consider sponsoring the prospect of a 2020 Chinese New Year celebration in the Scottish Parliament Building. The proposal was ambitious and exciting, and Colin agreed to collaborate with Wing Sie and the rest of the team to make it happen. The event was the first of its kind in the Parliament and was a truly unforgettable evening, which was a result of hard work and innovation from BBYTA.

In 2021, the organisation adapted to ensure that the event would still go ahead and held a Chinese New Year in a virtual format. The events which Colin has attended have been thoroughly enjoyable and memorable, and he has been delighted to work with BBYTA to sponsor these special occasions.
