CHINESE NEW YEAR 2020

On 21st January 2020, BBYTA organised Chinese New Year Celebrations for the Year of the Rat at the Scottish Parliament sponsored by Colin Beattie MSP and the United Nations House Scotland.

 

The two-hour event consisted of speeches from Colin Beattie MSP, (MSP for Midlothian MSP), Wing Sie Ng (Chair of BBYTA), Hou Dan Na (Deputy Consul General of China) and Dr Gari Donn (Executive Director at UN House Scotland).

 

There was also a range of cultural performances: Lion Dance and Kung Fu from the Yee Hung’s Ga International Kung Fu Association Edinburgh, Jasmine Flower Violin performance by Adriana Liu, vocal performance of “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles by Chloe Yeung, traditional poem readings by Chrystelle Lee and Latrice Wan, Sofianne Chan and finally a traditional Auld Lang Syne performance by Shannon Stevenson and Pui Kei Wong.

 

We want to also extend our thanks to the Scottish Parliament, Society of Antiquaries, Scotland China Education Network (SCEN), Phillip Chan, Chris Costello and all our volunteers.
